Summer is coming here in Sir Lowry's Pass, with the first strong South East winds and the heat beginning to build. It is not an easy time of the year, and I realize more and more how important this soup kitchen is to the people here. I have noticed recently that there are elderly people who come to the kitchen as well, since there is not a kitchen here that supplies their needs. There is so much that needs to be done here.
Anyway, with the help of the wonderful Starchild Global community I was able to deliver a load of vegetables to the kitchen on Monday morning, and I am hoping to make that a regular weekly event.
We have also begun work on planting the gardens, and involving the youth from the local community in the support and upkeep of the gardens. We also purchased the paint for the first phase of the renovation and upgrade of the soup kitchen itself. That will be happening this week-end! So once again thank you to all who contributed.
Here is a busy day at the Soup kitchen.

Now, some good news about the people who help us. Firstly, Thank You to our Dutch readers who contributed 100 Euros this week.
Then also a big thank you to South African Nicky Farmer, who used her birthday as an opportunity to raise money for the project. Nicky and friends raised ZAR1200 for the Kitchen, as well as donating food, clothing, toys and a microwave oven. Thank you to Nicky and Friends. The images below show Nicky handing the Microwave over to Emily, who runs the soup kitchen. Also, Nicky is pictured here with Wilma and Emily in the newly created flower garden. Wilma is responsible for the flower garden.

So, as we move on with the project, I can only say thank you to all who contributed. You need only to see the hungry children and old people here to know that your donations are appreciated by us all!
