Children of Africa Project

July Report

by Celia Fenn

Dear Starchild Readers,

There has been so much happening since my trip to Europe that I have not had time to update you on what is happening with our children's project. So, going back to the end of March, we organized an Easter Egg Hunt for the children in a piece of open land that has been earmarked for a community garden. Then, Starchild Global took on the Sponsorship of Wilma's new Child and Youth Development program, and we sponsored the Youth Day festivities in Sir Lowry's Pass on the 16th of June. Then we also contributed towards the expenses to send a gifted gymnast to compete in Europe. So, with your help, we are continuing to be a light and a presence in this community and to work with the new generation of Indigos and Crystals in Africa.

I would like to express my deep gratitude to everyone who contributed to make these things possible. Especially - to all the people in the Netherlands who came to my workshops and made generous donations. We were able to raise 800 Euros for the project from the Netherlands tour alone!

The Easter Egg hunt was a new experience for most of these children, and they were a bit bemused at the whole concept. And they had fun as well! Most of them come from homes where parents cannot afford to buy children treats at Easter. I remember on my last trip to the USA watching the children in Central Park in their Easter Egg hunt, and thinking that I would like to do something similar for our children.

So, here are some images from the day:

Making sure that there were enough eggs to go around for all!

Here some of the older children prepare for the festivities:

Wilma and the "Your Child is My Child" Youth Development Program

Our sponsorship of the Soup Kitchen has been so successful that many other donors and sponsors have come forward, mostly from Germany. This has allowed us to move on to sponsor Wilma's new community project. Wilma has been doing courses and training with the Child Welfare, so that she is qualified to run these programs. She has opened a "safe house" in her home to assist with endangered children and their safety, as well as starting a feeding program for those days when the soup kitchen does not operate. Then she is also running a skills and empowerment program for the older teenage children in the community. She is quite a powerhouse...and we are happy to support her!
