JUNE 2009
Hi Everyone! This is Wilber....he is the newest member of the Starchild Children's Foundation "Children of Africa" Project! He is a Diamond Child, born to our Project Leader, Wilma Papier in April of 2009. This was, unfortunately, while I was away in Brazil, but I was very happy to get to know him now, on my return to Africa. Here he is with his proud and loving mother, Wilma.
It was, of course, wonderful to be back in the Community with the Children in our Starchild Group. While I was away, Wilma and Dominic looked after the running of the Starchild project, especially the Easter party, and we will be bringing you more pictures of that together with our Youth Day (June 16) celebration organized by Wilma and Dominic. It was good to know that things were being taken care of while I was away in South America.
So, because the fall rains have been good, we were ready to begin the process of planting. Dominic had done a class with the children on the basic principles of planting seeds, and so the children were all ready to go with the preparation of the beds and the planting of the seeds in our Project garden. Here Dominic comes to terms with the instructions on the back of the seed package.
And...with a little bit of help from Sherelle, he was able to complete the planting of a bed of cabbages!
Of course, there was much discussion and everyone had an opinion about how things should be done!
But, at the end, all the seeds were planted and everyone posed for a happy group photograph!
And then, on to lunch, prepared for the children by Wilma and Barbie.
And a special treat of cake for desert!
And Dominic, with the help of Sherelle again, comes to terms with the role of being a "big brother"!
