Ragananda's Diary No3

The birds are singing away here at my cabin on Rebop's Bunny Farm because it's really early in the morning. Sometimes I wake up before 4 O'clock and listen to the silence and do a Time-In meditation. It helps me to always stay quiet in my heart.

This week I want to tell you about my friends, The Emerald Elves! They live in the Valley of the Golden Cliffs in the Diamond Mountains. When they capture travelers passing through their beautiful lands they charge a TOLL of STORIES! They sing a wonderful song that I'm going to record the next time I visit them but for now here are the words:

We are the Emerald Elves and we are fierce and jolly,
We capture travelers passing through our lovely golden valley.
We take you to our Emerald King, we fill your cup and bowl,
And all we are requiring is that you pay our toll, SOOOOO

Tell us a story, we have no need for money,
Poem or song, short or long, we really hope it's funny,
WE REALLY HOPE IT'S FUNNY!

And when you've told your grandest tale,
You're free to wander hill and dale,
Your story goes in our library,
For it is TRADITIONARY!
In winter when the nights are long,
And days are short and cold,
We'll gather 'round the fire to hear,
The stories you have told, SOOOOOOOOOO

So, one time Django the Rocking Unicorn, my best friend, and I were traveling to visit the Ayjet of Dinyadeli and we got CAUGHT by the Emerald Elves! Luckily Django and I are both really good story tellers and together we told the elves the STONES AND STARS story that is on the Starchild Story Corner.

The elves LOVED the story! If they don't like your story they won't let you go until you tell one that they DO like, so we were glad because we didn't want to be late for our visit with the Ayjet. But the King and Queen of the Emerald Elves were so pleased that they gave us green velvet story capes and a little green magic carpet and they said: "Put on your capes and sit on your carpet and think GREEN THOUGHTS which are THANK YOU THOUGHTS and you'll be magically transported back here to listen to stories from other travelers that we capture!"

So sometimes when children come to visit me at my cabin we put on the capes and we sit on our magic carpet and we chant:

GREEN THOUGHTS ARE THANK YOU THOUGHTS
GIVING THANKS FOR WHAT WE'VE GOT
FRIENDS AND FAMILY, FOOD AND FUN,
THANKS THANKS THANKS! FOR TALES WELL SPUN!

And then we all say different things that we are especially grateful for, like, another beautiful day or the smiles of our friends, or any of the many great blessings that are in our lives, and WHOOOOOOOSH! We are off and away and in just a moment we are landed right there by the fire in the Emerald Elves library where yet another traveler is telling their tale.

Maybe sometime YOU'LL come and visit me and we'll go there together. Or maybe sometime you'll get CAPTURED by the elves and have to tell your very best story. Can you think of what that story would be?

Well, I have to go now because I just got a call from Rebop who has something at his house he wants to show me. He just got back from a trip and he always brings back cool stuff. Next week I want to tell you about my best friend DJANGO the ROCKING UNICORN. He is a busy guy, but he's always ready to get OFF HIS ROCKERS and DANCE. All it takes is a smile to get him going.
