The Little Stones were very happy with their new crystal eyes. With these gifts from the stars they could see water falling from the clouds. The rain fell in the lakes and the rivers and it tumbled down to the ocean.

Way up on the top of the mountains they could see the white snow - frozen water! The little star-kissed stones asked, "Oh, Most Wonderful Water Spirit! Please tell us your story!"

"Look! I live deep inside of the Earth. The trees pull me up with their roots and I bring them good food from the soil.

I travel up the tree trunks to the leaves, then I leap into the sky and become clouds.

I am RAIN! Falling from the clouds, into the lakes and rivers and oceans and seas, where all of the plants and the animals and the people can drink me. Sometimes, when I am clouds high above the mountains where it is very cold, I become an artist. I make millions and billions and zillions of snowflakes, each one different.

The snow melts in the springtime sunshine and I laugh and dance down the hillside into the rivers and the oceans, or I disappear into the Earth to once again travel up the roots of the trees. The Little Stones could see that they were living on a wonderful water planet.
